ISPASS has in recent years offered travel support to encourage student participation. Applications and grant amounts are decided case by case; funding is not guaranteed.

Who can apply

All undergraduate and graduate students interested in learning about and sharing research in systems and software performance analysis are welcome to apply.

You do not need to be an author or presenter of an accepted ISPASS paper to qualify — though applications from authors and presenters receive higher priority.

What an application requires

  • The ISPASS 2027 travel grant application form — the link will be published here when applications open.

  • A letter from your advisor, uploaded with the form, which should:

    1. state that you are a full-time student pursuing a BS, MS, PhD or postdoc at the time of the conference, in an area covered by ISPASS;
    2. comment on the availability, or lack, of travel funds for you from other sources;
    3. indicate whether you are currently supported on a federal grant;
    4. commit to covering travel costs in excess of the travel grant.

    Your advisor is also welcome to comment on the broader impact of making an award to you.

Conditions

  • Awardees must keep original receipts for reimbursement.
  • Expenses are reimbursed after the conference, not in advance.
  • Awardees from US institutions must fly with US-based carriers for airfare to be reimbursable.
  • Awardees are asked to submit a short essay (around two pages) describing what they learned at ISPASS and the highlights of the conference.

Successful applicants are notified by email.
