ISPASS 2027 will be held in New York City, USA. Whether you need a visa depends on your nationality and the purpose and length of your stay.
Visa Waiver Program and ESTA
Citizens of countries in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) may travel to the United States for business or tourism for up to 90 days without a visa, but must obtain an approved ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorization) before boarding.
An approved ESTA is generally valid for two years and allows multiple entries.
If you need a visa
If you are not eligible to travel under the VWP, you will normally need a B-1 (business) visitor visa, which covers attending a scientific or professional conference.
- Complete the DS-160 online application.
- Pay the application fee.
- Schedule an interview at the US embassy or consulate in your country.
Check current wait times for your location before booking travel: US visa appointment wait times.
Invitation letters
ISPASS 2027 can provide a letter of invitation to support a visa application.
When requesting an invitation letter, include:
- Your name exactly as it appears in your passport
- Your affiliation and job title
- Your passport number
- The country that issued your passport
- Your date of birth
- Your paper title, if you are an author
- Whether you also need a business registration certificate or other supporting document
An invitation letter is a statement that you are expected at the conference. It does not guarantee a visa will be granted, and ISPASS cannot intervene in visa decisions.
If your visa is refused
If you cannot obtain a visa in time, contact the General Chair. Recent ISPASS editions have accommodated pre-recorded presentations for authors unable to travel; whether ISPASS 2027 will do so is for the Organizing Committee to decide.
